 Privileges, incentives and guarantees offered to projects
Established under the provisions of law /10/ of the year 1991 and its amendments

 

The companies established under the provisions of Law /10/ of the year 1991 and its amendments shall be exonerated from the tax on real estates revenues and the income tax as follows:

Mixed companies shall be exonerated from the income tax and from the taxes on the revenues of lands and real estates for a period of seven years.

Non-mixed companies shall be exonerated from the income tax and from the taxes on the revenues of lands and real estates for a period of five years.

Investors of all nationalities (Syrians, Arabs and foreigners) have the right to establish projects of all types according to the regulations currently in force in Syria.
Law No. /10/ of the year 1991 encouraged the investors by providing for many privileges and exoneration.

Establishing a company in Syria:

It is easy to establish a company in Syria. On the other hand, foreign companies can operate in the country through local branches, provided they inform the Ministry of Economy about it.

The experts have stressed that economic reforms in Syria confirm that the country is moving towards modernization and market economy. "President Bashar Assad's economic reforms will help Syria attract investment from Syrian expatnates and Arab investors in addition to foreign investments. This will provide new work opportunities," Amalia Azouri said "Europeans are interested in investing in Syria. European Investment Bank resumed its activities in Syria last year". Official records show tat more than $ 47 million have been invested in Syria in 1999. The report revealed that the new laws that have allowed setting up private banks have encouraged investment in the country

Many Factors encouraging the investment in Syria

Syria has been aware of the need to build investment-encouraging frameworks. These frameworks should encompass strong incentives for pioneer projects expected to play strategic roles in the Syrian economy. President Bashar Al-Assad has declared the investment as a national goal, building on the fact that national as well as direct foreign investments form a stronger and more reliable engine for sustainable development.
